​The Smiths Call To Groton

In the summer of 2023, First Baptist Church joined in partnership with Village Missions.  In the autumn of 2023, Pastor John Smith and his family made the move to First Baptist Church in Groton.  Before joining Village Missions, Pastor John had dedicated 15 years as a missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship. The Smith family's journey with Village Missions began in 2018, where they devoted six years to serving in northeast Nebraska at a small rural church.

Pastor John's overarching vision revolves around fostering the thriving growth of the local church. He aspires to see individuals within the church advancing in their spiritual walks with God. Moreover, he envisions the church actively demonstrating God's love for the community, creating an environment where the community can tangibly experience the love of Jesus and the worth of having God in their lives. Pastor John is eager to actively engage with the community, extending a helping hand wherever it is needed, guided by his commitment to embodying the love of Jesus Christ.
